Do brown *defunct hemi* wagons count more or less than diesel?

Why don't you put all these images in one thread instead of creating a post with a single image and line of text for each? Right now, 7 out of the 30 posts on the Oppo main page are yours. I can appreciate the cars but I'd consider that spamming.

I have a few more I'll wrap up with in a few minutes - they'll be all in one post.

Except for a cluster of three, I kept to 10 minutes+ between, several gaps of 20 minutes+. I would have been scheduling them, but I find the current editor functionality for that with any more than a post or two execrable.

I appreciate that I was overdoing it a bit and will try to avoid doing so again, but slow post days are slow post days.

I hardly think that 20-25 posts (not counting yours) in an hour is slow. It's good practice in general to put something together than just posting random images, regardless of the day's pace.

Yes, that's good practice. Trouble is, dump posts in Kinja are extremely unwieldy, and in fact Kinja is busy eating one/giving me the finger with one right now. As I understand pictures-only posts, or at least as I've made them in the past, their purpose is to brighten the place up a bit. Not to be dwelt on as such, but to be more easily digested. From my perspective it's the difference between putting up posters and leaving out a poster sample book. The latter attracts the connoisseur, the former changes the tone of the place.

Which isn't to say I wasn't spamming, as such - I suppose I was. I don't like dump posts both for practical (formatting, Kinja issues, size variance, limited audience) and functional/presentational reasons, but would have been happy to stretch out my posts a bit further. One a half-hour or so. However, the nature of how I collect pictures and the current level of function of the editor make doing so extremely onerous, and in what might be weakness, I didn't hold patiently by to make my posts better staged.

I accepted your criticism as a valid one, worth consideration, so I went back and checked my time stamps, finding 8 posts over an hour and a half. I recognized I'd been overdoing it, so it was worth knowing how much - whether it was really due an apology to all, or just checking. I then remarked, perhaps in wistfulness for the old minimal-content/high post-rate days that I needed to meter better to the given post rate of others. That was my intended meaning. I.e., I recognize posting in the old style is disruptive if I'm the only one doing it.

Your reference to "random images" is confusing, unless you mean everyone broadcasting on their own wavelengths with whatever they feel like, or possibly that posting just to increase group post rate is not a good idea. Very little was random about my posts, except insofar as a theme might be randomly chosen. Intended progression was general late 50s Fireflites, engines, Firedomes, and older models, with some spare photos as well.

I was just remarking that it looks random without having seen the context provided by the post where you said you would post a bunch of Desotos, not intended to demean the posts.

That's fine. Just as long as you were aware it wasn't contextless, nor anything but carefully hand-picked. My second try at a DeSoto dump is going down in flames right now, btw. "Your post is being saved, please be patient"? Like hell it is...

As a side note, I know you spend a lot of time on your Best of Oppo posts, but you quite honestly may have taken it to the opposite extreme (lock?) with your posting - posting hardly at all, but with a great deal of content. I respect you as a poster, I really do, and I wish that weren't the case - it'd be better to hear you more often and not always in depth.

Heh, thanks I guess. I don't think I ever posted a ton. I rarely post something unless I've got some news or a question or something else I really think is of interest. I'm a pretty quiet guy in real life too so I guess my posting habits here sort of reflect that.

I like participating in discussions, answering questions and helping people so a decent amount of my commenting comes from that. I don't have all the time in the world so I don't post much else or comment too much. Just the way I am.

Hopefully over the holiday break I'll get some time to work on my e30 and I'll post some more about that. I should also post some more of my random observations.

Top tip for images: Kinja doesn't like many different image sources. Put the links into imgur.com (you can paste a bunch at once in the upload window) and I think you might have better luck getting posts to work.
